Special Statement
With the continued hot temperatures and low relative humidity, fire activity has continued to be active, along with smoke production over the Telegraph fire. The winds have become more westerly this morning and this has pushed heavy smoke into the Miami-Globe area. This smoke will begin to improve later this morning, but expect moderate smoke to continue through the day. Sensitive groups should continue to monitor air quality conditions in these areas.
Fire
The Telegraph fire is at 179,678 acres and 67% contained. Moderate fire activity was observed yesterday as it continued to move southeast and south of Pinal Mountain into Dripping Springs area. Satellite heat signatures are showing the bulk of the active fire along the Dripping Springs Mountains this morning and expect this activity to continue through the day. Light to moderate fire activity was also occurring on the north side of Pinal Mountain.

Smoke Today
Moderate to heavy smoke is occurring north of Pinal Mountain this morning and this smoke is moving into the Miami-Globe area. Expect this smoke to continue through the day, but expect some improvement later this morning. This smoke will move eastward later this morning and will also affect the San Carlos/Peridot areas this afternoon and tonight.

This afternoon, outflow winds from thunderstorms to the northeast over the White Mountains, could increase fire activity and increased smoke to areas southwest, west and northwest of the fire. There is a slight chance for thunderstorms near the fire later this afternoon, which will cause erratic winds and push the smoke in any direction around the fire.
