SW New Mexico
7/10 - 7/11
Issued: 2020-07-10 17:49 (MDT)
Fire
The Cub Fire is now at 17,935 acres and remains at 5% containment. The fire received light to moderate precipitation yesterday afternoon and fire behavior decreased significantly. Most of the fire growth was on the north flank. Growth on the south and east flanks has slowed due to rocky terrain and scabby fuels. Fire activity is expected to remain light until fuels dry out later this afternoon. The forecast calls for extremely hot and dry conditions therefore fire activity should increase in coming days.
